You can find WordPress themes for almost any subject. They are either FREE or premium, where you need to pay fees on a yearly basis or some companies offer lifetime purchases. While selecting a WordPress theme, we need to be careful and keep things in mind before we decide which theme to purchase.

  1. Select the theme according to the subject: There are themes devoted to a particular subject. If your site is about a particular subject, e.g., photography, then you can get a theme specially built for photography. It will have options related to the subject.
  2. Check the popularity of the theme: Some themes are very popular. We can check by their download number. It is safe to read reviews about the theme, find out how many people downloaded it and then purchase it.
  3. Check the features of the theme before purchasing. Not just the technical features but about update, support, etc.
  4. Check the customization facilities the theme provides: Check if the theme is customizable. More customization means better output and freedom.
  5. Check if it provides prebuilt designs: There are themes that provide lots of prebuilt designs, which can also be further changed according to our requirements. It can be helpful in the beginning to use prebuilt designs.
  6. Check if is updated regularly: Updates are important. If the theme provides updates regularly, it will be compatible with the WordPress version.
  7. If possible, try the free version before you purchase the premium version: It is better to check the free version of the theme before you purchase it, if it is available. You will get some idea of how that particular theme works.
