Concept

Using color mode with Brush Tool is another way to get grayscale output.

1. Open an image for grayscale output. Make sure that Black and White color are kept as foreground and background colors else press "D" to get the required result.

2. Select Brush Tool. Change the mode to Color in the options bar.

3. Start painting on the image. You can paint all or certain areas to get effect as we have done in the following images.
